The imposing concrete, glass and wood façade greeting visitors as they enter the riverfront building housing Wasabi is a clever statement about the kind of luxurious, deceivingly minimalist and oh so precise Japanese cuisine contained within. From the tableware hand-thrown and individually glazed by a local artisan, to the homage to seasonal flavours guided by produce from Wasabi’s very own Honeysuckle Hill Farm right down to the ancient traditions involving Bincho-Tan, water specially filtered onsite through Japanese white charcoal, this is not simply a restaurant but a complete aesthetic experience.
With a plethora of accolades including being awarded Two Chef Hats every year since 2014 by the Good Food Guide, this is hallowed ground for any gourmand worth their freshly grated wasabi. The wine list is exceptional too. To that end, whilst children are not discouraged from accompanying parents to Wasabi, little darlings may be better off left with a babysitter and less meticulous surroundings.
