The newly opened Noosa Heads Distillery has changed the brewing landscape into a place for all. Housed in the Land & Sea Brewery (yes, beer lovers are still catered for), the Noosa Heads Distillery is a one exuding the luxury of wooden speedboats in Biarritz with the distinctly local flavours of Queensland in a variety of award winning Vodkas, Gins and Whiskey.
The ubiquitous juniper and citrus florals are paired with clever flavour profiles of finger limes and ginger in the Navy Strength Gin or honeydew melon, lavender and coriander in the Signature Gin. The Fortune Vodka is also a nod to locality, with Australian wheat and filtered Noosa water allowing the subtlety of crisp pear and coconut flavours to come through. The White Malt Whiskey has ‘a soft caramel chew, a clean light malt aroma and dried fruit sensation,’ and is made with Australian malt. Still not feeling the local vibe? Why not try a gin composed for (or poking fun at) one of Noosa’s best restaurants, Sum Yung Guys, the Pho Gin. Containing asian botanicals, fish sauce (not joking even a little) and designed with ‘clean distinct flavours such as Spring Onion, Bean Shoots, Chilli, Seaweed and for some “meatiness,” the inclusion of Porcini Mushrooms.’ Uber cool, buying a gin or two to take home comes with a further souvenir, a woven patch perfect for sticking and sewing onto hats or adventure bags acting as the hand labelled brand on each bottle.
Beautiful cocktails showcasing the liquors are served by moustached mixologists in the airy and industrial-chic styled Noosa Heads Distillery next to gorgeous polished vats, with the scent of Land & Sea hops only barely discernible.
